Globe Artichoke

Description- This thistle like tender perennial grows 3 to 4 ft tall and 3 to 4 ft wide. The globe artichoke is grown for its flower buds, which are eaten before they begin to open. Since it is tender and reacts poorly to cold weather, it is not for all gardens.

How To Grow- They prefer a long frost free season with damp weather. They will be damaged by frost and cold weather. They need special cake for mulching. They are grown from offshoots, suckers or seed. They need full sunlight & rich well drained soil. Plant about 10 inches apart.

Harvest - From planting to harvest is approximately 50 to 100 days grown from suckers. If you grow from seed first buds take about a year
